About
Welcome to the Illicit Cultural Property Blog. I started writing here in 2006 as I was undertaking my PhD research into cultural heritage law at the University of Aberdeen. I work to provide regular updates on thefts, antiquities looting, and legal developments in the field. At busy times during the semester and when I am up against a writing deadline posting may slow a bit. I encourage readers to offer comments or opinions. The opinions I offer here are short reactions, and I reserve the right to change my views, contradict myself, and even let some typos filter through.
I am an Associate Professor of law at South Texas College of Law where I teach writing, research and appellate litigation. From 2010-12 I served three years as the Academic Director of the Association for Research into Crimes Against Art (ARCA). I have taught in ARCA's Amelia program since 2009.
